Reverse Engineering Design

Reverse Engineering Design

Reverse engineering is the process of taking apart an existing product to understand how it was designed, built, and operates. The goal of reverse engineering is to create a blueprint or a detailed model of the original product that can be used to reproduce or modify it.

Squire Company is known for its expertise in reverse engineering design because they have a team of highly skilled and experienced engineers who have been trained in the latest reverse engineering techniques and technologies. We use state-of-the-art equipment and software to accurately capture and analyze the data from the original product or system, and then create a detailed model that can be used for production, modification, or improvement purposes.

Digitizing and Scanning

Digitizing is the process of digitally representing 2D and 3D objects. This is achieved through laser scanning, white light scanning, or contact scanning technologies. The resulting data can be transformed into points, curves, splines, surfaces, and solid models. This is useful in evaluating complex geometry and can aid in reverse engineering. Engineering drawings can be created from 3D solid models or paper drawings can be converted to CAD format.

01
Dimensional Measurement

Not all reverse engineering tasks require scanning. Clients may provide their own sketches with dimensions to be determined through dimensional measurement. This process is similar to inspecting a drawing, but nominal values are not pre-established. Establishing tolerances for product manufacturing can be challenging. Meeting FAA and FDA standards often involves measuring multiple parts to establish tolerances based on detected variations.

02
3D CAD Solid Modeling

CAD Solid Modeling involves creating a digital 3D model of an object. This process has various uses, such as generating drawings, analyzing geometry, performing reverse engineering, and programming CNC-CMMs. We can create a parametric 3D solid model from your prototype or drawing, and verify it for accuracy, especially with complex surfaces.

03
Engineering Drawings

We provide engineering drawings that meet stringent requirements. The drawings can be generated from parametric 3D solid models or from a model you provide in a variety of formats, including STP and IGS. We can also convert old paper drawings to CAD format for advanced quality control and easier maintenance.
